Try a Mystery Seed Swap

My friend and fellow blogger, Dianna, over at Neck of the Woods Creative posted about a Mystery Seed Swap she did earlier this year.  I loved hearing about all the different types of seeds she received.

What is a Mystery Seed Swap?

My friend Dianna joined a group which was running a Mystery Seed Swap.  Each person who signed up sent their seeds (saved or retail, this particular group did not specify) to a central person.

The central person then sent seeds back to each participant.  It was a mystery as participates did not know what types of seeds they would receive.  Dianna had fun seeing what types of seeds she could plant this year from the swap.

The seeds were labeled with type of seed as well as planting, care, and harvesting directions.  Mystery refers to not knowing which types of seeds each person will receive.

How to use seeds from a Mystery Seed Swap

Seed swaps, especially one with mystery seeds, offers the opportunity to have some fun and experimenting in the garden.  Once you harvest, it is time to have fun with new recipes in the kitchen.

For example, maybe you have only grown watermelons.  Perhaps in your Mystery Seed Swap you receive seeds for Casaba Melons.  You plant the seeds and wait to see…

When harvest time comes, you see the Casaba Melons look like this:

Now I want to try a Mystery Seed Swap.  How about you?

Be sure to read Dianna’s Mystery Seed Swap experience.

Are you interested in participating in a Mystery Seed Swap?  If yes, please leave a comment.

Have you been part of a Mystery Seed Swap?  I would love to hear about your experience.

    1. Elise, oh you know me too well! 🙂 I have not participated in a Mystery Sweed Swap so far. I am willing to give one a go. I know you will ask for pictures when I do. ~Adrienne
